Two men will appear in the Midrand Magistrate's Court on Monday for being in possession of stolen property and unlicensed firearms, after Midrand police swooped on a property where 358 stolen laptops, vehicles and weapons were recovered.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson captain Pinky Tsinyane, police were alerted that a truck carrying laptops had been hijacked on Allandale Road yesterday afternoon, by a group of men driving a silver Opel Corsa bakkie and a white BMW.

The hijackers were traced to a private residence in Austin View, Midrand, where police recovered the laptops - mostly Dell - as well as the two vehicles involved in the robbery, and a stolen Hyundai panel van.

Tsinyane says police also found two unlicensed handguns and a rifle at the premises; however, they could not find the hijacked truck.

"At this stage, we are still searching for the truck and hoping to make further arrests," says Tsinyane. She says police have yet to establish where the truck, travelling from Johannesburg, was headed when it was hijacked.
