Fake Eskom job advertisements in Limpopo are conning people out of money.

Power utility Eskom has warned the public of an online recruitment scam that is soliciting fees from would-be applicants.

According to Eskom, the recruitment scam taking place in Lephalale, Limpopo, advertises jobs in the area and once the applicants are called in for an interview, they have to pay a fee.

Eskom says its employment positions are only advertised on the Eskom Web site and job-seekers are encouraged to verify all job adverts by visiting the site and searching on the recruitment page.

"Eskom would like to state categorically that the company would never ask members of the public seeking employment to pay in order to be successfully recruited into Eskom," says an Eskom statement.

Eskom has encouraged anyone who comes across such practices to contact the toll-free crime line on 0800 11 27 22, or e-mail investigate@eskom.co.za to report the incident.
