Johannesburg, 13 Nov 2009

GuruHut has released Atlassian's Jira 4 bug tracker for software development and project management, which it says now contains 1 000 features and improvements.

The company adds it has the ability to implement and support the product throughout its life cycle.

Len Weincier, a director and software architect at GuruHut, says the latest version features OpenSocial gadgets and social networking capabilities which extend the issue-tracking capabilities of previous versions.

According to Weincier, Jira 4's features also sport a simplified new look and easily customisable dashboards, shipping with pre-built gadgets which include support for gadgets from other Atlassian products.

“It is architected to help organsiations collaborate better and uses Jira Query Language to enable users to trace elusive issues within the system,” Weincier says.

The interface, according to GuruHut, is refreshed to ease access to key functions and features Facebook-like activity streams that can be displayed on the dashboard or added to any RSS reader.

Jira 4 also incorporates a collection of agile project management capabilities, courtesy of GreenHopper 4, which allows users to track progress and assists with future estimates, the company concludes.
