Swicon360 has appointed Nick van der Walt as the executive director of business development.

Van der Walt was previously the sales and partner relations executive at the company, a position he held for more than three years.

Swicon360 says it is currently the only SAP certified human capital management (HCM) business process outsourcing (BPO) solution provider in Africa.

This year, the company plans to cement partnerships, secure additional market share, and break new ground in the African marketplace.

Van der Walt says Swicon360 is bullish about acquiring new partners in Africa. “Now that we've got the SAP certified HCM solution, we're in the process of identifying partners in Africa. We are engaging partners in Nigeria and Kenya.”

He adds that the company aims to improve the skills base in Africa. “We want to build local skills in these regions. We will be training our partners in full workforce management and payroll, and we also have talent management module. We will also focus on training them in employee self-service.”

Van der Walt points out that 2010 is going to be a big year for Swicon360, adding that Vodacom Business has been signed on to host the company's BPO solution.

“We want to take BPO to the market this year in the cloud. We've already had a good response from customers in the private sector. Because the solution is in the cloud, our customers don't pay for additional hardware or software licences.”

According to Van der Walt, the solution is aimed at the medium enterprise making under R2 billion a year. However, he notes that the recession has forced companies to turn to cloud computing to reduce capex costs. Van der Walt adds that Swicon360 has been working on the BPO solution for a year in Germany, and is ready to take it to the African market.
