Legal action between communications minister Siphiwe Nyanda and his dismissed director general Mamodupi Mohlala has been postponed until 26 August as a temporary agreement between the two.

Tiyani Rikhotso, Nyanda's spokesperson has confirmed that the arrangement had been made this morning.

Part of this agreement was also to give Nyanda time to formulate his response to Mohlala's founding affidavit that says he acted unlawfully by dismissing her.

Mohlala says she has also agreed to a proposal by President Jacob Zuma for public service and administration minister Richard Baloyi to make some kind of unspecified intervention.

However, she rejected a suggestion that she may have changed her mind from yesterday when she said she had rejected President Zuma's suggestions.

President Zuma also suggested to Mohlala that she place her court action in abeyance until Baloyi had made the intervention.

“We agreed on this this morning and neither party actually went into the Labour Court,” Mohlala says.

Nyanda dismissed Mohlala a week ago citing a breakdown of trust between him and his highest ranking public servant.
