AST E-business, a division of the AST Group, has introduced Entrust Technologies` strategy for bringing trust to mobile wireless (WAP) e-commerce. The announcement underscores AST`s commitment to secure business-to-business, business-to-consumer, and intra-business e-business.
Through Entrust, AST e-Business issues digital certificates that let e-commerce mobile application servers, such as Nokia`s WAP Server, encrypt and decode data they share with mobile phones and other devices.
"We can commercially issue certificates for both Web and WAP servers enabling companies to make a rapid start-up to their business-to-business and business-to-consumer activities," says Michael Horn, Chief Technology Officer of AST`s E-Business division, SA distributor for Entrust. "WAP is emerging as the global standard for wireless Internet and for advanced telephony services between mobile phones and application servers."
"The sector now at the forefront of trusted mobile Internet transaction is financial services where banks, brokerage firms and other organisations are looking to use wireless communications links to securely trade with their customers," continues Horn.
The Entrust wireless programme is currently focused on the development of security solutions for WAP and current GSM mobile phones, but plans to include mobile Internet devices such as personal digital assistants, e-commerce servers, pagers and other wireless terminals.
AST e-Business` products and services can be viewed at Computer Faire 23 - 27 May 200 in Hall 5, D 42,44.
