One Technology Group (OTG), a member of JSE-listed Siltek Limited, SA's largest IT Supply Chain Group, has launched the QMS 6100 A3 network printer product range targeted at the general business market.
Primary markets for the machine include those users requiring office document printing and desktop publishing, while secondary markets are the graphics design and pre-press proofing as well as the engineering and scientific markets.
"Four network models make up the QMS 6100 network laser product range for users in the 600dpi to 1200 dpi market. They are the N, GN, EN and at the top of the range, the DP," says Leatitia Axt, product manager at OTG.
The baby 6100N is aimed at small to medium networked business workgroups, the 6100GN at the desktop publishing and general business application market and the 6100EN and DP are aimed at large workgroups and higher volume business application markets.
"The 6100 range is a lower cost, general purpose departmental colour laser printer offering a higher duty cycle, higher consumable life, automatic duplex and smaller footprint than others in its class," says Axt.
The printers offer a standard six to 12 ppm in colour, with 24 ppm monochrome, up to A3 size paper and either 600 dpi or 1200 dpi maximum resolution.
Software bundled with the products enhances production and quality of work produced, and includes PostScript, PDF and PCL 6 emulations, with 137 printer-resident typefaces and Euro character support.
Network connection is a standard 10/100Base-TX Ethernet connection and the range uses 64-bit, 200MHz RISC-based controllers, starting at 64MB SDRAM with a maximum 348MB, and up to 1250-sheet input trays.
"These printers have moved away from the typical juggernaughts of yesteryear and weigh in at only 54 kilograms while still offering users 75 000 prints per month," concludes Axt.
