Motorola unveils new Razrs

Motorola unveiled a bushel of handsets at its annual analysts` meeting today, including two high-end Razrs, a thinner Razr, a slider, and the first 2MP Nextel camera phones, reports PC Mag.com.

In a presentation, Motorola CEO Ed Zander ran down Motorola`s successes in selling 50 million Razr phones (20 million in the US alone) against the likes of Korean competitor Samsung.

The Razr is an iconic brand that Motorola will continue building on and evolving, like Apple`s Macintosh brand, he said.

WiFi device promises to make CD player obsolete

A new wireless music player promises to surpass the sound quality of even the most sophisticated high-end compact disc players, says Pocket-lint.

Called the Transporter, the unit created by Slim Devices promises to also offer a broad range of options not available on any CD player, including thousands of Internet radio stations, Pandora`s personalised music service and Rhapsody`s two million track collection of online music.

Audiophiles can use Transporter to listen to their music collection, regardless of whether it was originally downloaded on their PC or purchased on CD.

VOIP call quality getting worse

A new study suggests the quality of voice over IP (VOIP) is getting worse, states silicon.com.

Brix Networks, a company that develops monitoring tools for service providers, analysed data it gathered from a free Web site it created two years ago called TestYourVoip.com.

While it`s no secret Net phone services don`t offer the same call quality as traditional phones, in its study - published on Monday - Brix discovered VOIP call quality has declined by about 5% in the past 18 months.
