Document solutions company Itec SA has entered into a joint venture with Tiyende Telecommunications to provide a suite of office telecoms solutions to the corporate market.

The joint venture, Itec Telecoms, is being headed by Anthony Stafford as CEO, who says the synergies between the two businesses are "enormous".

Itec, which recorded turnover of R750 million last year, is a distributor of a range of office products including copiers, printers, fax machines, document management systems and software, while Tiyende Telecommunications is an empowered services provider.

"Itec is currently expanding its services into new sectors," says Itec CEO Jacques Druyver. "We see telecommunications as a key growth point in the corporate arena, spurred mainly by the imminent appointment of the second network operator and the demand for lower-cost telecoms and smart office management solutions for high-volume users."

He adds that Itec`s products complement the telecom solutions demanded by the corporate market.

The venture has partnered with several telecoms suppliers to offer a product range that will initially include PBXs, data (broadband, virtual private network and Internet services) and mobile voice solutions.
