In an uncertain time defined by rapid change, the word 'resilience' has taken on new meaning. It's no longer about simply fending off the occasional mishap - the ability to quickly adapt, recover and return reinvigorated is now a constant requirement in the business world.
ITWeb's third annual business resilience event, to be held in Johannesburg on 19 and 20 August, will help delegates ensure their companies can identify and withstand even the toughest continuity challenges.
The theme for ITWeb Business Resilience 2014 is: 'Prepare. Prevent. Protect' and local and international experts will explore and explain how best to both implement and execute successful business resilience programmes.
Speakers will cover a wide range of topics, including an assessment of the top business continuity threats South African organisations face, developing an effective resilience strategy and plan of action that covers the business, and understanding legal requirements and the role of corporate governance.
Speakers already on the agenda include Lyndon Bird, technical director at the Business Continuity Institute (BCI), who will discuss why he believes improving organisational resilience is the real justification for business continuity.
The other international keynote speaker is Alan Hilburg, president and CEO of Hilburg Associates, who has been called the world's foremost expert in crisis communications. Brian Henry, CEO and owner of Caridon Business Solutions; and Tracey Linnell, GM: advisory services at Continuity SA, will also speak at the event.
