Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab4 in SA

The electronics company has made its Galaxy Tab4 available to the local market.

Samsung has unveiled its Galaxy Tab4 locally. This version of the device is slimmer, lighter and affordable.

According to Samsung, the device was designed with the modern user in mind - - one solution to address all aspects of daily life. It is compatible with other Samsung devices, such as televisions, smartphones and the Gear Fit.

The new multi-user mode, HD display and lightweight body make this tablet easy to use and difficult to put down, says Samsung.

"The new tablet is available in either a seven- or 10.1-inch display boasting a rich range of capabilities," says Craige Fleischer, director of mobile communications at Samsung SA.

"With up to eight user profiles available on the device, everyone in the household can have a personalised tablet experience with their own music, games, apps and photos. It's the best way to keep everything organised and make sure your personal information stays private."

Key features

The Galaxy Tab4 10.1 has a high-definition display and playback, a quad A7 1.2GHz chipset, up to 64GB of memory and all this within a shell that weighs only 495g and is only 7.95mm thick.

The Galaxy Tab4 7.0 has up to 32GB of memory and weighs 276g with a thickness of 9mm.

The 10.1 model boasts a premium mock-leather backing while the Tab4 7.0 offers an improved grip and support for the user's hands during use as well as adding that all important element of style.

Some of the enhanced features of the new devices are the quad core processor, high-definition screens, increased memory, apps and the inclusion of the Android KitKat operating system.

In addition, the large displays and the fast 1.2 GHz Quad Core processors allow for some down time with the S Console. The S Console is a gaming platform for high-quality games which are compatible with the Samsung Gamepad.

Also, with Hancom Office 2014, a mobile office program that enables Galaxy Tab 4 devices to create, edit and view spreadsheets, Word and PowerPoint documents, users are able to conduct business and access information from anywhere.

The devices qualify for 1GB of AlwaysOn WiFi data every month for 12 months at no additional cost, at any of the 1 400 AlwaysOn hotspots nationwide.

The devices have access to Kindle for Samsung, the e-reading platform created for Samsung devices.

This service offers users one free book per month for 12 months. A free subscription of Bloomberg BusinessWeek and Evernote is also included, assisting consumers to remain on top of the latest news and their own schedules.

The Galaxy Tab4 is available through Samsung Experience stores and leading retailers nationwide.

Suggested retail pricing for Galaxy Tab4 7-inch is R3 999 and Galaxy Tab4 10.1-inch is R6 999.
