More than 3 800 people have joined the Facebook group disputed by Albert Venter.

Albert Venter - a businessman whose company sells new cars for a monthly instalment of R699 - is suing a Facebook user to the tune of R1 million, for a group containing a range of comments and criticisms on the social network. This is according to a report in the Sunday Times this morning.

According to the paper, Cornelia Maria Nel started a group called "I have been done in by Drive a New Car from R699 per month", which has amassed 3 881 members.

The Satinsky Group - the company involved in the car deals - previously noted that only a small portion of the group's members were clients of the company.

The paper quotes Venter, whose legal claim notes that comments on the Facebook page were "false, wrongful and defamatory".

"The comments carry the additional sting that I am not a law-abiding citizen, dishonest, corrupt [and a] cheat," he said.

In June, Satinsky ended its partnership with Hong Kong-based company Blue Lakes, which stopped the monthly advertising earnings that many clients were relying on to pay for the cars.
