Vox Telecom, which recently consolidated its brands and is exploring growth opportunities, has bought managed IT provider Dynamic IT, for an undisclosed amount.
This move is part of Vox's growth and diversification strategy, it says.
Murray Steyn, executive head of commercial, notes: "Convergence and cloud are accelerating the outsourced managed IT market and it is no longer viable to be 'just' a telecommunications provider in South Africa. There is a growing demand for vendors to deliver value-added, and valuable services for customers, no matter their size."
Established 13 years ago, Dynamic IT has technical and solutions-based capabilities as well as national clients. Its staff complement has already been integrated into Vox Telecom's existing managed services structure, and founding members, Martin Henene and Barry Kemp, remain critical members of the team.
Vox Telecom believes the addition of technical and solutions-based expertise, coupled with the fact that it has its own network, and a growing product portfolio, differentiates it from other outsourced partners in South Africa.
"An acquisition of this nature was the next natural step for our business, and takes us closer to delivering an end-to-end solution for our customers - from peripherals to virtual hosted solutions, and everything in between," adds Steyn.
Steyn explains the purchase allows Vox to offer needs-based consultation and technology recommendations, as well as end-to-end implementation and a hardware rental solution.
Since Vox delisted, it has seen its bottom line gain around 15% year-on-year, although its revenue has been hit by deflation.
The telco received a R499 million offer from Investec, Rand Merchant Bank and Lereko Metier Capital in the middle of 2011, and left the bourse towards the end of that year. At the time, it explained it will be better able to focus on its strategy without being encumbered by listing requirements.
