Less than two weeks after Times Media Group started advertising an online streaming entertainment offering, Vidi has officially launched.

Vidi allows viewers to watch television series and movies on demand and is available at both a monthly subscription option and instant rental option.

The video-on-demand (VOD) service is available across multi devices, at R149 per month for an unlimited subscription to a library of movies and TV series - or between R15 and R27 for on-demand content.

Times Media Group is offering the first month on subscription as a free 30-day trial. "Viewers don't require a dish or a decoder and they can cancel their subscription anytime as there are no contracts."

Viewers can watch Vidi content on any device that can stream content, including PC, Apple Mac, laptop, Apple and Android tablets and smartphones.

The company says the service is an advert- free and schedule-free platform, which is adaptive to Internet speeds and can work from slow or fast Internet connections.

Times Media Group CEO Andrew Bonamour says the new VOD service "represents a significant step in Times Media's evolution to a multi-platform media and entertainment company".

He says Vidi is part of the company's recent diversification of the company into a range of "high growth broadcast and content assets" in SA and in West and East Africa.

Times Media Group says the monthly subscription option offers unlimited viewing of a library of over 1 000 hours of TV series and over 100 movies, "and is constantly growing". The platform also features Kids Playzone, which includes a selection of children's content.

"The instant rental service offers a mix of 72 of the latest blockbusters just off the cinema circuit as well as select library titles, with new titles being added every month."
