Oracle has added its cloud services to value-added distribution (VAD) offerings, enabling a new two-tier distribution model for the Oracle Cloud.

The company says the addition of cloud services will provide partners with more choice in how they deploy Oracle's cloud offerings.

Oracle Cloud offers a suite of public cloud services, including Oracle applications, platform and infrastructure services, allowing partners to help their customers adopt Oracle Cloud.

The enterprise software company will work with its VAD partners to further its reach in the market and deliver new opportunities to cloud resellers and customers around the globe.

In an interview with ITWeb during the Oracle OpenWorld 2014 conference in San Francisco this week, David Callaghan, senior VP for alliances and channels, Oracle EMEA, said cloud technologies represent one of the fastest-growing segments of the Oracle Partner Network (OPN) programme.

He said the Oracle partner ecosystem is experiencing rapid growth in the EMEA region, despite the geo-political issues affecting parts of Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

"We have been emphasising on the value that customers get from the vast combination of products that we have. The company also has a lot of incentives for its partners in the region."

There are a lot of opportunities in the EMEA region and the biggest challenge is how to cover all those opportunities, said Callaghan. "I don't think we are opportunity-constrained; but we are engagement-constrained. It's about having the partner capability that is able to engage with the wealth of opportunity presented by EMEA."

He revealed that the company is looking to bring in more partners to cover the region. "Within Africa, we have recruited well but I think there is more potential for growth in the number of partners because of the wealth of products and services that we have."

According to Callaghan, about 80% of the business transactions in EMEA are done via the channel while the partners also contribute 40% of the revenue.

The company sees a lot of opportunities in the region, especially in retail, utilities, manufacturing and financial services, he added.

Oracle says OPN offers a wide range of cloud programmes and enablement resources that help partners speed up time to market with cloud-based services and solutions.
