Navomax, a subsidiary of Strategic Solution Architects has signed an agreement with SAP Africa to provide managed cloud services for SAP software solutions.

Navomax will deliver a ready-to-use, subscription-based offering of SAP solutions in its private hosted cloud, enabling customers to access SAP software quickly and easily, at an affordable and predictable cost.

As a provider of managed cloud services for SAP solutions, Navomax will offer customers a cost-effective, on-demand, cloud-based delivery model of their software solutions, says Pfungwa Serima, CEO SAP Africa.

The agreement will give Navomax customers the ability to gain access to the new SAP technology they otherwise would not have been able to due to the required capital expenditure investment they may not have budgeted for, says Navomax in a statement.

Serima points out with managed cloud as a service, customers can focus on managing their business rather than on IT.

"Their preferred SAP partner takes care of deployment, application and infrastructure management services, along with ongoing maintenance and support. The customer only pays a single subscription fee, giving them greater control over their operating expenses."

According to Wayne Borcher, chief operating officer of Navomax, because of this agreement the company's customers don't have to worry about the underlying IT infrastructure and can now focus on the use, development and administration of their services.

"This enables a powerful paradigm shift, as cloud-based solutions are always-on, incredibly adaptable, highly reliable and secure, and deliver a more solid return on investment," says Borcher.

Through this agreement, Navomax has become the first official provider of managed cloud as a service for the SAP HANA platform in Africa.

This agreement comes after SAP says it plans on investing about $500 million (R5.3 billion) into boosting its growth on the African continent.

SAP's plan is based on regional needs, and also aims to aid small and medium companies to grow as well as improve skills, says Robert Enslin, member of the executive board of SAP for the European region.

The growth plan includes a focus on selling specialised software for telecommunications, financial services, utilities and other verticals in SA, Kenya, Nigeria, Angola and Morocco, adds Enslin.

According to a statement, going forward, SAP will have operations in 51 African countries. There are now 700 SAP employees working in Africa, and the company intends to hire another 250 by the end of 2015.
