Bytes Document Solutions, the largest Xerox distributor in the world, servicing 26 sub-Saharan African countries, has appointed Russel Carter as the regional manager of its Africa operations. He will be responsible for maintaining and growing relationships with existing distributors across the continent, developing strategies to increase sales through the Africa distribution channel, and negotiating and developing rental finance modules for distributors and their customers in Africa.

Carter started three distributor businesses - for Minolta, Panasonic and Kyocera respectively - all of which were highly successful. Coupled with this in-depth experience, he has worked on that side of the channel for more than 30 years.

"My expertise lies in rental finance discounting and consulting with distributors, dealers and resellers in the office automation industry to improve their business through strategy development, improved efficiencies, and sales techniques. At Bytes Document Solutions, my goal is to apply these skills and experience to help the company increase its footprint and sales in Africa."

Prior to joining Bytes Document Solutions, Carter was employed as the Director of CBS Rentals, the rental discounting company for Utax South Africa, and the authorised distributor of German office automation business Utax. When Utax was taken over by Kyocera in 2010, he was appointed as operational director for Kyocera Corporate Business Systems.

"Russel brings a wealth of experience to the role and has a proven track-record in successfully developing and operating a best-in-class business," says Craig Schweitzer - Divisional Director Africa Operations at Bytes Document Solutions. "We are delighted to welcome him to the team and we are confident that he will continue to develop opportunities to grow the channel business throughout Africa."

"The Xerox brand is going from strength to strength and is one of the most valuable in the world," says Carter. "It signifies high quality and has enormous strength and selling power. In addition, Xerox is known for its leadership position in the development of breakthrough technology and customer service. I'm aiming to impart my knowledge of this industry through education, consulting and mentoring in the channel and, by doing so, to significantly grow Bytes Document Solutions' business across the continent."
