In line with its ongoing commitment to provide leading-edge broadband services to its customers and to reduce the cost of communications, Neotel, South Africa's first converged communications network operator, has announced it will be discontinuing the sale of NeoBroadband services below 2Mbps speeds and reducing its packages by up to 42%.
As part of this added value strategy, Neotel is offering its NeoBroadband customers greater speeds at the same monthly cost for a 24-month term, while providing uncapped and unshaped symmetrical Internet access.
Neotel also announced it is no longer offering services below 2Mbps, except on its CDMA network due to technology limitations. Customers will be given the choice to upgrade their 1Mbps service to the 2Mbps service at the same price for a 24-month term. This will also apply to other offerings: 2Mbps service customers upgraded to 5Mbps at the current charges for 2Mbps.
In addition, NeoBroadband Fibre customers will have the ability to boost their speeds "on demand" to cater for their temporary needs for higher speed above and beyond their subscribed speed. The customer will only pay for the higher speeds for the period they require the boosted speeds. This offer of speeds of 2Mbps or higher will be offered on Neotel's own infrastructure such as fibre and WiMax. These services complement Neotel's fixed wireless LTE services already launched in Gauteng.

Services will be available nationwide and will be offered on a 24-month contract.
Neotel will, however, continue to offer services below 2Mbps for its retail customers only.
