Riaan Manser, solo adventurer and BlackBerry influencer, will share how to move from "talking the talk" to "walking the talk" at upcoming events in Durban and Cape Town next week.
Manser will present his inspirational keynote - There is an ocean between "saying" and "doing" - at the BlackBerry Experience executive breakfast briefings taking place in both cities.
During the past 12 years, Manser has completed four unparalleled world firsts: cycling around the entire perimeter of the African continent, circumnavigating Madagascar in a kayak, circumnavigating Iceland with a handicapped partner in a double kayak, and rowing from mainland Africa to mainland North America in a seven-metre boat with his girlfriend.
During his presentation, he will share the lessons he has learnt on what it takes to lead and to succeed.
The BlackBerry Experience Executive Forums, hosted in partnership with ITWeb, are aimed at assisting decision-makers and all senior levels of management with a mobile device management and security mandate, and attendance is free.
Also presenting will be Nader Henein, regional director: product security at BlackBerry, who will expand on how best to navigate the often chaotic BYOD landscape, and explore the rise of shadow IT.
"Shadow IT comes from a need that is not satisfied, and IT needs to rise to the challenge. As a vendor, it is our task to provide the tools," says Henein.
Among the tools to be provided to delegates in Durban and Cape Town is access to a case study on how Nedbank approaches enterprise mobility, presented by Wickus Viljoen, a systems analyst at the bank. Viljoen will cover mobile device management (MDM) and the associated security challenges faced by Nedbank from a user, device and environmental point of view, the terms and strategies that were relevant to Nedbank and why, and how the bank has benefitted from implementing the BES10 EMM solution.
Delegates will also be able to pose their MDM and security questions during an interactive panel discussion moderated by Paul Jacobson, managing director and digital risk strategist at WeboTechoLaw. The panel will include Henein, Viljoen, BlackBerry enterprise director Izak Meyer, and Andy Swanepoel, manager and technical specialist at Nedbank.
