Dimension Data Application Services acquires Agile, Xpedia to expand Oracle operations

Acquisition positions Dimension Data to address market demand for Oracle skills in the applications services sector.

Johannesburg, 21 Oct 2014

Dimension Data, the USD6-billion ICT solutions and services provider, today announced it has acquired 100% of Agile Business Solutions, a privately owned consultancy specialising in the implementation, maintenance and support of PeopleSoft and Oracle Human Capital Management systems and 100% of Xpedia Fusion, an Oracle ERP and business systems solutions provider, (Agile-Xpedia) for an undisclosed amount.

Agile-Xpedia will be part of Dimension Data Middle East and Africa's Application Services business (In 2013, the assets of Dataflo, Core People and Dimension Data Application Solutions were merged to form the Applications Services business). The acquisition provides Dimension Data with immediate scale in the Oracle suite of applications and significantly enhances Dimension Data's credentials and positioning in the South African Application Services sector.

Donovan Lawrence, Executive, Application Services, Dimension Data Middle East and Africa said: "The acquisition of Agile-Xpedia is an investment in skills and expertise, and gives us increased capability and resources to support clients, and our growth. The acquisition of Agile-Xpedia accelerates our ability to drive both IT-as-a-service and IT outsourcing into the MEA market."

The acquisition of the two organisations will see the Application Services division of Dimension Data expand its Oracle service delivery capabilities with the addition of 72 highly-skilled Oracle experts. Additionally, it opens the business to new markets, namely tertiary education, telecommunications and financial services and positions Dimension Data's Application Services as one of the leading providers of professional, managed and cloud services to the Oracle client community ? both in the SAAS and CAAS areas.

"Our investments in cloud-based Oracle-engineered solutions, the addition of the professional and managed services of Agile-Xpedia, together with the current JD Edwards capabilities that we have in the Applications Services business unit all combine to give Dimension Data the ability to provide professional services, cloud services and managed services to the wider Oracle client community," continued Lawrence. "The capabilities of both the companies we have acquired complement our existing services and skills sets the team has here in our Johannesburg and Cape Town offices."

Headquartered in Johannesburg with some representation in Cape Town, Agile Business Solutions is acknowledged by Oracle as a leading HCM Oracle partner in southern Africa, and has Gold Partner status. 100% of Agile staff have HCM expertise.

Xpedia Fusion is a wholly owned subsidiary of Xpedia Consulting, which is part of the Xpedia IT group of companies, formed in early 2003. Xpedia services clients in east and west Africa as well as SADC. The Oracle-related solutions and service offering offered by Xpedia covers the entire Oracle applications services spectrum, and includes professional services, managed services and licensing services.

The Agile-Xpedia team will be integrated into the Dimension Data offices in time. Both companies will also continue to offer the services they do today, and support their current clients.
