Microsoft SA has announced the local availability of Dynamics CRM Online.

The software giant says the platform enables companies to do more and achieve more by helping them expand their sales and service capabilities. The current version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM is 2013 with over 40 000 customers.

Along with Microsoft Azure and Office 365, CRM Online is a critical part of Microsoft's cloud solution stable, the company says, adding these provide local companies with sales and customer care capabilities integrated with productivity applications such as Outlook, Yammer, Lync, Skype, SharePoint and Power BI, as well as mobile apps and Unified Service Desk.

According to market analyst firm Gartner, worldwide customer relationship management (CRM) software totalled $20.4 billion in 2013, up 13.7% from $18 billion in 2012. In that market, Microsoft trails companies like Salesforce.com, SAP and Oracle.

CRM Online is priced at $65 per user per month, which includes Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online Professional, Office 365 and Power BI for Office 365.

Microsoft says the availability of CRM Online means it is differentiating Dynamics CRM from competing products by continuing to offer both on-premises and cloud deployments. This means the choice remains with the customer, who is able to move seamlessly between the two offerings, without experiencing any major disruptions to their work processes, it notes.

According to Adnan Theba, Dynamics CRM solutions sales professional at Microsoft SA, the go-to-market strategy is focused largely on salesforce automation for small businesses, as well as the development of industry-specific templates designed for the healthcare sector, SMEs, financial services and professional services.

Microsoft is working very closely with its partners to ensure the provision of the right solutions to customers, he adds.

"In addition to enjoying the benefits of these new capabilities across sales and service, customers can be comfortable doing business with Microsoft when it comes to their data," says Theba. "With regard to data security, Microsoft has developed its practices and policies as a result of more than 15 years' experience in providing security for online data. We proactively monitor to help identify potential unknown threats by predicting malicious behaviour and monitoring for irregular events that may indicate potential threats."
