Storage solutions provider EMC has unveiled the EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Solution that integrates hardware, software and services from EMC and VMware to unite the strengths of private and public cloud.

Speaking at the launch in Johannesburg last week, Servaas Venter, country manager at EMC Southern Africa, said the EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Solution enables IT-as-a-service (ITAAS) in as little as 28 days.

Organisations will no longer have to make trade-offs between the speed and agility of public cloud services, and the control and security of private cloud infrastructure, he said.

Venter also revealed EMC recently acquired three cloud technology companies - the Cloudscaling Group, Maginatics and Spanning Cloud Apps - to extend the company's hybrid cloud strategy and vision across cloud infrastructure, storage and data protection.

"The acquisitions, along with today's announcement of the EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Solution, underscore EMC's commitment to customers to deliver choice and agility in hybrid cloud deployments," said Venter.

"We could not be more excited to welcome Cloudscaling, Maginatics and Spanning to EMC. What we have here is a trifecta of customer choice for hybrid cloud environments. Each company offers unique technology for delivering cloud abstraction and flexibility for customers."

With the new EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Solution, he added, EMC customers and partners are better positioned than before to capitalise on the promise of hybrid clouds and deliver the agility of ITAAS their businesses require.

As IT organisations race to keep up with the demands of the modern and rapidly changing business, they need to leverage private cloud because it is trusted, controlled and reliable, as well as public cloud because it's simple, low-cost and flexible, Venter noted.

The EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Solution lets enterprises deploy a hybrid cloud that incorporates the best of both public and private clouds.

"The solution empowers IT to be a broker of trusted cloud services, while maintaining the freedom to choose the management and orchestration technology upon which the hybrid cloud is standardised.

"The result is a hybrid cloud solution capable of supporting traditional and next-gen applications, financial transparency so IT can prove its value to the business, and a seamless and secure management experience," Venter concluded.
