In a move that will enable local customers to derive some of the benefits of using the Microsoft Azure platform locally, cloud distributor Cloud On Demand has been appointed as a Microsoft Cloud OS Network partner, enabling it to provide customers access to a stack of Microsoft cloud-focused solutions directly from the Cloud On Demand local infrastructure.
As per the announcement, Cloud On Demand has been appointed as a Silver Cloud OS Network partner and will jointly work with Microsoft in South Africa to provide key Cloud OS solutions.
"We are very excited about the potential this announcement unlocks for our partners, many of which are currently looking for ways in which to better answer the Microsoft needs of their end-user clients and creating a road map for them to place them into the cloud," states Jonathan Kropf, CEO at Cloud On Demand.
"I also believe that as the popularity of the cloud grows in SA, so will its use case, and commitment from vendors such as Microsoft create a strong use case for customers."
The Cloud OS Network solutions are ideal for SMEs that are looking to tap into a hosted Exchange, SharePoint or Lync environment. From an enterprise perspective, it is particularly attractive for customers wanting to make use of a hybrid cloud environment, particularly where they can host their applications offsite through their partners. These customers will then be able to make use of Microsoft System Centre to manage and build a tailored environment for themselves, all of which they can then control from a centralised panel.
Over time, all components of the Microsoft Cloud OS Network solution stack, made up of: Windows Server, Microsoft Azure Pack, Microsoft Migration Accelerator, System Center, SQL Server, Converged Systems, Analytics Platform System and the Cloud Platform System will become locally available.
"Finding the right partner is the first step in the journey towards cloud success for our customers. Supported by our Cloud OS services like the Microsoft Azure Pack, this link provides our customers with greater flexibility and scale, coupled with the benefits associated with having a proficient local cloud provider such as Cloud On Demand," says Johannes Kanis, Partner Business & Development Manager at Microsoft South Africa.
"This is going to provide our customers with an incredible opportunity to help transform the data centre of their clients; it will also enable them to leverage and deploy enterprise mobility as well as enable modern business applications. At Cloud On Demand, we are exceptionally proud that Microsoft selected us as their partner on this leg of their cloud journey," ends Kropf.
