MTN has cut the pricing of its MTN Sky contracts in a promotion that will be valid for the next two-and-a-half months.

The promotion is available to all new customers, as well as those upgrading or migrating to MTN Sky, and will run until 31 January, says the company.

Chief marketing officer at MTN SA, Larry Annetts, explains MTN Sky gives customers access to unlimited local calling and SMSes to all networks, and uncapped data.

The new pricing sees the monthly subscription on MTN Sky reduced from R1 499 to R1 299 on a 24-month "bring your own" device deal.

Depending on the smartphone selected, customers can get an all-inclusive deal, which includes a handset, for R1 599 on the current promotion - a reduction of R200.

"When MTN first introduced the MTN Sky contract offering earlier this year, it revitalised the contract segment in SA," says Annetts.

MTN introduced its Sky offering at the end of March, for both prepaid and contract customers. At the time, then chief marketing officer Brian Gouldie said the company hoped the new unlimited plans would help customers simplify their monthly billings and manage their budgets more effectively.
