Gijima today announced the appointment of Bill Hoggarth to its board as it continues its turnaround strategy.

In a statement released by the company today, chairman Robert Gumede said Hoggarth brings a "wealth of expertise" that will be pivotal to the pursuit of sustainable growth.

Hoggarth joined Gijima in May as chief sales officer, following his time at Dataways, a business intelligence product and services company he co-founded in 2012. He has also previously turned around companies such as Business Objects, Siebel and SAS to positions of market leadership, according to Gijima.

CEO Eileen Wilton noted there is "a lot of work to be achieved to turn around the business, and Bill, who joined Gijima on1 May 2014, has already proven he has added immense value".

Gijima is in the process of raising R100 million to recapitalise the business through a rights offer. "The technical aspects of the issue were recently approved by shareholders. The second vote by shareholders will be held in December. The issue has been approved by the Competition Commission," the company said.
