Gartner positions Informatica as a Leader in 2014 Data Quality Tools Magic Quadrant

Company positioned highest and furthest for Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision.

Redwood City, California, 08 Dec 2014

Informatica (Nasdaq:INFA), the world's number-one independent provider of data integration software, today announced that Gartner, a leading IT research and advisory firm, has positioned Informatica as a Leader in its 2014 Magic Quadrant for Data Quality Tools report, published 26 November.

In the Leaders Quadrant, Informatica was positioned the highest and furthest for Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision.

Saul Judah, Gartner Research Director, and Ted Friedman, Gartner Vice-President and Distinguished Analyst, wrote in the report that, "Given the scale and complexity of the data landscape, across organisations of all sizes and in all industries, tools to help automate key elements of this discipline continue to attract more interest and to grow in value. As such, the data quality tools market continues to show substantial growth, while also exhibiting innovation and change."

Judah and Friedman note in the report that, "The data quality tools market remains dynamic, owing to its growth in size and volatility on both the supply side and the demand side. We see high demand for data quality tools, including from midsize organisations (which traditionally tended not to buy them). This demand is driven partly by activities in the fields of business intelligence and analytics (analytical scenarios), MDM (operational scenarios) and digital business. Also contributing to demand are information governance programs, which are growing in number, and requirements to support ongoing operations, data migrations and inter-enterprise data sharing."

According to the Gartner report: "The data quality tools market continues to grow strongly. Gartner estimates that it reached $1.13 billion in software revenue at the end of 2013. This translates into 13.2% growth in constant-dollar terms over 2012, which had brought 9.9% growth over 2011. Gartner forecasts that this market's growth will accelerate during the next few years, to almost 16% by 2017, bringing the total to $2 billion. This market is among the fastest-growing in the enterprise software sector."

Informatica Data Quality ensures data quality to stakeholders, projects and data domains for a wide range of projects and applications - on-premises, on Hadoop or in the cloud - using a single, unified platform. Powered by the Informatica Vibe virtual data machine, it enables users to proactively monitor and cleanse their data in a consistent and reusable manner, regardless of the underlying platform and technologies, empowering the business to share in the responsibility for data quality and governance.

Dennis Moore, senior vice-president and general manager, Information Quality Solutions, Informatica, said: "We recognise that trusted data isn't an accident, but rather happens by design. We believe our ongoing leadership in the Gartner Data Quality Tools Magic Quadrant results from a singular focus on customer success, based on a holistic data stewardship process combining data cleansing and enrichment. This enables business and IT to collaborate to create quality data that supports critical business processes."
