Telkom is offering 100GB of LTE-A data at peak speeds of up to 150Mbps.

Following what Telkom says was a successful launch in Parkview, Johannesburg, the company has rolled out LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) in five more suburbs.

Illovo and Melrose in Gauteng, Sea Point and Three Anchor Bay in Cape Town, and Umhlanga in KwaZulu-Natal have access to the operator's peak Internet connectivity, with speeds of up to 150Mbps.

Attila Vitai, MD of consumer and mobile at Telkom, says customers will be able to use the service wherever there is a signal and coverage.

"LTE-A is a wireless plug-and-play solution that can be used anywhere where signal and coverage allows. Being a wireless solution, LTE-A does not require a wire-connection that goes into your home, and it can turn your home into a fully connected WiFi hotspot allowing for up to 32 devices to be connected simultaneously," explains Telkom.

Telkom says its LTE-A offer is comparable to speeds available over a fibre network and offers a compelling alternative to fixed-line solutions for high-speed connectivity.

"Telkom is offering 100GB of LTE-A data at peak speeds of up to 150Mbps, which enables customers to download a 10GB HD movie in less than eight minutes or download a 60MB music album within nine seconds."

The promotional offer is available for R1 399 per month over a 36-month contract.
