EMC appoints Gerald Painter to run Western Cape

With more than 20 years of IT experience, Gerald Painter joins EMC from Dell South Africa, where he was a Circle of Excellence Award winner in 2009.

During his nine years with the company, Painter held a number of senior positions including Enterprise Pre-Sales Manager and Sales Director.

Prior to joining Dell, Painter spent five years as Business Unit Manager at infrastructure and services company Datacentrix.

Commenting on his plans for EMC Western Cape, Painter says he is looking forward to a new challenge. "I enjoy the psychology of sales and addressing challenges in a structured way," he says. "I am keen to use my experience in managing high-performance, senior teams, as well as to apply what I've learnt over the years.

"My plans are to develop a strong team built on trust, with an emphasis on using sales disciplines to achieve goals. I believe that by understanding our customers and engaging with them in a meaningful way, we can grow EMC's footprint in this region.

"In addition, I will be focusing on ensuring my staff members receive the support they need to be a high-performance team."
