Brett StClair is joining micro-jobbing start-up Money for Jam (M4JAM) from next month as its "chief jam creator", a role in which he will be responsible for growing the number of jobs on the platform and help to scale the business globally.

StClair, who has spent several years at Google, most recently as work regional manager for sub-Saharan Africa, says joining M4JAM was a simple choice.

"M4JAM is the first local start-up I have seen that ticks all the boxes: they have a sticky product that has already hit tipping point and they have built a model that can scale globally, leveraging cloud computing as well as having built repeatable business processes right the way from sales through to support.

"More importantly they are changing the market by providing micro jobs to people in an emerging market. That gets me really excited."

M4JAM was conceived early in 2014, and was up and running in 115 days. According to co-founder Andre Hugo, speaking to ITWeb in January, the response to M4JAM exceeded growth targets by well over 300% and the platform's base continues to grow daily.

As a micro-jobbing platform, M4JAM breaks down large projects into small tasks so that geographically dispersed people with access to a mobile phone can complete a job quickly and independently in exchange for payment.

Hugo notes StClair's "vast digital, mobile experience and business network will complement the strong team of 12 people that are already on board and his experience will be key as we add more layers onto the foundations that we have created over the past six months. Our sole focus for the first part of 2015 is to bring more brands and jobbers onto the platform and then to scale globally."

M4JAM says several new, and returning, brands are also joining the platform and it has just launched its "E(arn) button". Brands can place this button on their digital properties to direct potential jobbers to a mobisite where they can find brand-related jobs.

The M4JAM Social Share feature will be launched next week, and allows jobbers to spread the news that they have earned money on M4JAM.
