SUSE shows solutions for zero downtime

Expert Day in South Africa brings together SUSE experts from SUSE and key partners with customers - SUSE Linux Expert Day in Johannesburg, 3 March and Cape Town, 5 March 2015.

Johannesburg, 20 Feb 2015

The SUSE Linux Expert Day brings together SUSE experts from SUSE and South African key partners with customers, all working together to facilitate discussions on those key topics that are relevant to today's IT professionals.

With the overall topic: "Towards zero downtime", the SUSE Linux Expert Day will showcase solutions to minimise costly planned and unplanned downtime in the data centre. The SUSE Linux Expert Day takes place on 3 March in Johannesburg and 5 March in Cape Town. Participation is free of charge.

"The SUSE Linux Expert Day in the city offers our customers the ideal opportunity to get together with the SUSE experts from SUSE, and SUSE partners, and with other customers," says Matthew Lee, regional manager SUSE. "Furthermore, we show how they regain control over their IT infrastructure with highly available Linux and open source solutions from SUSE, and thus get more and more close to a zero downtime infrastructure."

The SUSE Linux Expert Days will focus on topics such as an in-depth view with demos and examples on how to organise and manage a Linux deployment to minimise planned and unplanned downtime.

Features like live kernel patching, snapshots, system rollback and high availability, as well as simple tools to manage this across multi-hypervisors and platforms, will be part of the presentations.

Another part of SUSE Linux Expert Days will be dedicated to cloud, OpenStack and virtualisation for the enterprise, showcasing the benefits of using OpenStack and how SUSE helps to deploy this fast and manageable solution. This includes an OpenStack overview and demo and how SUSE has made deployment, multi-hypervisor support, high availability and VM control a manageable solution with maximum uptime. Furthermore, new deployments of Linux Containers (LXC) and Docker will be shown.

SUSE Linux Expert Days will also give an outlook towards SUSE Storage, big data support and other new features. SUSE Storage will provide Ceph, which focuses on making enterprise storage scale-out effortlessly and at a lower cost. Also highlighted will be the developments in big data such as Linux deployments for Hadoop or for SAP HANA, Teradata, mongo DB and others.

Participation is free of charge. For more information and registration, see www.suse.com/events/slef-2014.
