There's no point to having information if it doesn't help to make businesses run better, says Kamil Kara, BI pre-sales specialist at SAP South Africa.
There's no point to having information if it doesn't help to make businesses run better, says Kamil Kara, BI pre-sales specialist at SAP South Africa.

The 'art of the possible' as it relates to the Internet of things (IOT), using information gleaned from the audience, will be one of the many presentations by business intelligence (BI) subject matter experts at the ITWeb Business Intelligence 2015.

"The world is changing around us at a pace which is difficult to keep up with. We've moved from having data in the 80s, to having information in the 90s, and now in the 2000s the next logical step is insight. What's the point of having all of this information if we cannot derive any meaning from it to make our businesses run better?" asks Kamil Kara, BI pre-sales specialist at SAP South Africa.

"Executives, as well as other users, want access to information here and now, and don't want to wait for the whole process of managing the red tape every organisation has. Today, you need to get the right information to the right people at the right time, to make the right decision and change business intelligence into intelligent business."

During his presentation at ITWeb Business Intelligence 2015, Kara will use data collected from the audience to simulate big data generation, and demonstrate how to draw conclusions from this, giving delegates practical insights into the 'art of the possible' that smart data offers.

SA needs to continue to embrace the smart data revolution, he says. "Data is doubling every year, and businesses need to keep up with the growing demand of data access and data consumption at an exceedingly rapid pace. The need for real-time analytic reports and dashboards, in the office or on the road, is a must for all decision-makers."
