Mobile World Congress 2015: Huawei is showcasing a range of wearable devices, including a watch, at the top mobile event.

Last night, on the eve of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, it unveiled the Huawei Watch, TalkBand B2 and TalkBand N1. At the same global press conference, it also introduced its next-generation phablet.

In a statement, CEO of Huawei Consumer BG Richard Yu said wearable devices will be "one of the most important industry developments in the advent of big data and cloud technologies". He noted Huawei wants to be a leader in that space.

Huawei joins the likes of several other companies, such as Apple, Samsung and LG, which have moved into the smartwatch space. The first smartwatch in Huawei's wearables family, the device has a 1.4-inch Amoled screen, and a metal body, which Huawei claims makes it scratch- and water-proof.

It has a fully circular design, with a 42mm diameter, and was designed by a team of traditional watch-makers. The device is powered by Android Wear and comes with a range of health-tracking functions.

When paired with a smartphone running Android 4.3 or higher, it can receive SMSes, e-mail, calendar, app and phone call notifications.

Huawei also unveiled the TalkBand B2, which is a health management device, and the TalkBand N1, which it claims is the industry's first HiFi stereo and Bluetooth headset. In addition, it revealed what it claims is the world's slimmest 7-inch phablet, the Huawei MediaPad X2.

The phablet is 7.28mm thick and has an all-metallic body. It comes in two versions: the standard version of 2G RAM and 16GROM in a moonlight silver body, and the premium version with 3G RAM and 32GROM in an amber gold body. Both are dual-SIM and offer 4G network support.
