Unit4 one of the most powerful technology companies in government

Annual listing of the top 10 companies at the forefront of tackling government technology challenges.

Utrecht, Netherlands, 05 Mar 2015

Unit4, the global leader in software solutions that enable business change, has been chosen as one of the 10 most powerful technology companies in government by CIO Story in its annual listing published this month.

Unit4 is recognised as being at the forefront of tackling government technology challenges and impacting the government sector. It provides software solutions to 1 500 public sector customers worldwide. These include 24 central government departments in the UK, 70% of central government in Norway, and a project supplying 150 government bodies in Sweden via a single instance cloud ERP implementation.

Unit4's strategy is based on its extensive understanding of the market. Its software is designed specifically for people and service-focused organisations. As it is the most flexible enterprise planning system in the market, it is ideal for constantly changing environments like governments.

CIO Story's annual list of companies is selected by a panel of experts and members of CIO Story's editorial board to recognise and promote technology expertise in the government sector.

"Public sector organisations face constant pressure to better serve citizens, improve access to information and contain costs " says Ivo Totev, CMO at Unit4. "With an increasing emphasis on achieving value for money, organisations must leverage technology in the best possible way to achieve these goals. The rich functionality, flexibility and ease of deployment our solutions offer makes them a perfect fit for public services organisations which need agility. It's great to be recognised specifically for our work in this sector."

What customers say

Unit4's Agresso ERP Local Government Platform underpins a transformation programme at Coventry City Council that has saved over £3 million to date. "We needed a new finance system," said Barry Hastie, Assistant Director: Financial Management, Revenues and Benefits at Coventry City Council. "The incumbent was heavily customised, and as a result, so inflexible we couldn't even upgrade it, let alone align it to the new ways of working..."

"We are confident our decision to consolidate to a single system will reduce costs significantly, even helping us become more profitable, and improve efficiency across the city," said Gunnar Bj"orkman, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, City of Stockholm.

The NHS North Central London Cluster Procurement Cooperative provides procurement shared services to six organisations, with 1 400 requisitioners across 200 locations. In its first 12 months of trading, the service, underpinned by Unit4's Agresso Procurement Platform, has made cost savings of £2.7 million, increased customer satisfaction by 200% and electronically captured over 90% of purchases. It was awarded 'best example of ICT-enabled innovation and enterprise' and highly commended as a 'best example of shared services in practice in the UK Public Sector Digital Awards.
