NetXactics appointed Rapid7 distributor for sub-Saharan Africa

Johannesburg, 17 Mar 2015

As security challenges become increasingly complex and more prolific, companies need to make smarter decisions in terms of their vulnerability to attack, and also act faster and more effectively to any threat.

Through its recently signed partnership agreement with Rapid7, NetXactics will distribute and support Rapid7's real-time security vulnerability management and analytics solutions, which offer key insights into threat and risk exposure, across sub-Saharan Africa.

The Boston-based company, Rapid7, focuses squarely on understanding the behaviour of attackers, and bringing insight and analytics to data security threats. This helps organisations to reduce their exposure to risk.

The company's solutions provide insight into the security state of an organisation's assets and users, across virtual, mobile, private and public cloud networks, and offer capabilities for vulnerability management, penetration testing, controls assessment and incident detection and investigation.

Cornel Swart, CEO of NetXactics, says Rapid7's security approach is extremely strategic. "Most vendors in this space place a huge emphasis on the discovery of security threats, but lack the expertise to help customers to prioritise threats and identify the most effective actions to reduce risk."

He adds that, for NetXactics, the most important factor when taking on a new product is the vendor's strategy for Africa. "Rapid7 is dedicated to business in Africa and has shown a solid commitment to our market."

"NetXactics has demonstrated a track record of bringing innovative solutions to market and also has a reputation for business excellence," says Richard Moseley, Senior Vice-President of Sales at Rapid7. "We look forward to working with them to help their customers get the security data and analytics they need to improve their overall security posture."

Swart adds that NetXactics is particularly enthusiastic about Rapid7 UserInsight, a solution for incident detection and response that detects attacks including compromised credentials, user impersonation and lateral movement. "It's the only solution that can detect breaches from the endpoint to the cloud with innate analytics to detect the changes in behaviour that can signal an attack."

Rapid7's Threat Exposure Management solutions help security teams decrease their organisation's risk of a breach. By providing teams with a complete view of their changing attack surface and an automated way to assess it against an evolving threat landscape, Rapid7 customers can build a plan to minimise the risk that they know and manage the risk from threats unknown. Only Rapid7 aligns offensive understanding with defensive technologies to identify and systematically eliminate likely attack points.
