PBX platforms have always been a necessary tool for business communications, says Craig Freer, head of product at Vox Telecom.

Local telecommunications operator Vox Telecom has partnered with US-based Grandstream Networks, a provider of IP voice/video phones and video surveillance devices.

The companies say the deal aims to bring the rich functionality of big enterprise private branch exchange (PBX) solutions to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) at a fraction of the cost.

Grandstream's PBX solutions run on an open-licensed system, there are zero user, feature and upgrade fees, delivering cost-effective scalability to meet growing business needs, they add.

"PBX platforms have always been a necessary tool for business communications but with cloud solutions becoming increasingly popular, customers who still opt to keep their PBX onsite face the issue of high customer premises equipment costs," says Craig Freer, head of product at Vox Telecom.

He notes unified communication platforms have traditionally only been available to larger enterprises. "Grandstream minimises this expense and makes keeping the PBX onsite much more affordable again."

According to Freer, Vox Telecom, a multi-vendor supplier of PBX solutions, found there was a gap in its South African SME customer base for an affordable and reliable PBX platform that was quick to deploy and easy to use.

"Thus, the partnership with Grandstream materialised as Vox Telecom saw the benefits of Grandstream that would fulfil our customers' small business needs. We are always looking for solutions and partnerships that will best meet the needs of our customers, and Grandstream undoubtedly delivers a cost-effective and reputable solution for small businesses."

"Vox Telecom's national footprint, and complement of trained, certified engineers able to implement our system makes this partnership compelling for Grandstream," adds Eduan Beetge, product manager for Grandstream Networks.
