MB Technologies (MBT) has rebranded itself and other companies within the MBT stable in line with Tarsus Technologies.

MBT conducted research and interviewed vendors, resellers, advisors and members of its leadership team, and found Tarsus Technologies, established in 1985, was viewed as the brand with the most equity within the group, says group marketing manager Emma Blewitt.

"There has been a change in the group over the past year or more. We have evolved from being a product-centric distributor, to an organisation focused on supply chain optimisation, services and solutions."

Blewitt says one "monolithic" brand - Tarsus - was chosen to reflect the new collaborative way of working across the group, enabling it to leverage off the Tarsus brand name, which has been built over 30 years.

The other companies within the Tarsus Technology Group stable are Tarsus Distribution, Tarsus Channel Capital, Tarsus Risk Management, Tarsus Cloud on Demand, Tarsus Mobility Solutions, Printacom and GAAP.

Internal shuffling

SecureData, now called Tarsus SecureData, is one of the companies within the group and focuses on IT security solutions. Carlo Venter has recently taken over from Ivor Daniels as MD of SecureData.

Venter became executive financial director at SecureData when it was listed, in November 2012. He then went across to MBT in 2013 when it bought SecureData for R85 million. Venter was asked to return to SecureData this year as MD when Daniels was requested to resume his previous role as national sales director for SecureData.

Tarsus Technology Group CEO Miles Crisp says the internal moves were important to put each person in a role that was best for them and the company. He says Daniels was moved back to his previous role because "we really needed him there".
