Buying Oc'e SA will help Canon SA become the leading full service provider in the professional and production printing space.
Buying Oc'e SA will help Canon SA become the leading full service provider in the professional and production printing space.

Canon SA says it will buy out Oc'e SA, a provider of "innovative and high quality products and services for the printing industry" for an undisclosed amount.

The purchase expands Canon SA's existing relationship with Oc'e, as the two companies have had a four-year distribution partnership. In a statement, Canon says the deal "brings together Canon's technology and expertise with Oc'e SA's market-leading services".

Oc'e provides document workflow solutions, large format printers as well as digital document solutions.

Canon says it is making a "significant" investment through the buyout, which it notes demonstrates its "commitment to the region and to nurturing customer and partner relationships throughout South Africa and the rest of the African continent, offering expertise and infrastructure to empower opportunities in new markets".

Gian de Vallier, MD of Canon SA, says "Oc'e SA is an excellent addition to the Canon group and will play a key role in empowering Canon's ambition to be the leading full service provider in the professional and production printing space.

"Canon will invest the necessary resources to enable customers to take full advantage of innovations in hardware, software and professional services developed by Canon together with the expertise of Oc'e SA."

Oc'e SA MD Dave Clark adds the deal is "the next step in the natural evolution of the partnership".
