RSA, the Security Division of EMC, has unveiled RSA Via, an array of smart identity solutions, engineered to combine authentication, identity and access management, and identity governance silos into one unified solution.

Introduced at RSA Conference 2015 in San Francisco yesterday, RSA Via enables dynamic, end-to-end identity management across diverse systems and users.

According to the company, traditional identity management systems are not keeping up with how companies operate today, as they battle to keep up with the fast and unpredictable movement of users as well as the wide range of movie and cloud apps flooding the business.

RSA Via was designed for dynamic IT environments, and was built with the need for identity management and business priorities to be tightly aligned.

According to RSA, companies need to deliver rapid, seamless access to systems and data so employees can be productive, and alongside this, technology must protect business assets while ensuring compliance.

"RSA Via removes friction between business and IT by automating identity management processes, placing them in the hands of the business managers themselves, and enabling a simple user experience for authentication, single sign-on, access review, and access request."

In addition, Via has adopted a business-driven approach to provisioning, and was created to enable businesses to centrally create access policies and automate access processes.

The product also shuts down rogue access. "The majority of data breaches involve the exploitation of weak or stolen passwords. The growing diversity of places where identities and passwords are being used to access a corporate network, whether through the cloud, BYOD, WiFi and similar, burdens users and further complicates security."

As such, Via allows users to easily and securely access data and applications through a range of step-up authentication methods, whether on iOS or Android devices through the Via mobile app, says RSA.

Via also boosts compliance, and was designed to integrate traditionally siloed identity management systems to create a lone, centralised place for all identity data.

"Unlike traditional IT-driven identity solutions, RSA Via technology is driven by business needs and is built to rely on centralised identity intelligence and contextual awareness rather than static rules to make informed decisions," says the company.

New identity portfolio includes RSA Via Access, RSA Via Lifecycle and RSA Via Governance as well as RSA SecurID and RSA Adaptive Authentication.
