Forecasts of licence fees must be in line with the annual turnover definition in the regulations, in respect of the prescribed annual contributions of licensees to the USAF, says ICASA.

The Independent Communications Authority of SA (ICASA) is calling on all broadcasting, as well as electronic communications and network services licensees, to submit annual forecasts of licence fees and Universal Service and Access Fund (USAF) contributions.

"This should be in line with the annual turnover definition in the regulations, in respect of the prescribed annual contributions of licensees to the USAF," ICASA says in a statement.

The regulator adds licensees are also required to submit a trial balance, detailed management accounts and reconciliations between the trial balance, management accounts and a calculation of the forecast of the licence fees and USAF contribution.

"The authority urges all licensees to submit the required information by no later than 30 April 2015, failing which a defaulting licensee will be deemed non-compliant and the matter may be referred to the Complaints and Compliance Committee for adjudication."
