For 20 years, Datalinx has served as an international centre of excellence for Sage ERP Africa, says Sage ERP Africa's Keith Fenner.

Sage ERP Africa has signed a distribution agreement with UK-based warehouse solutions provider Datalinx, offering customers in Africa and the Middle East access to a range of solutions in areas such as warehouse, manufacturing and mobility.

Under the partnership, Sage ERP partners across the region will now be able to provide Sage ERP X3 customers with warehouse management systems using the Datalinx Warehouse Manager X3 application.

Datalinx provides a warehouse management solution that integrates Sage ERP X3 and warehouse operations. It supplies barcoding systems that integrate into all levels of Sage ERP X3, providing business process capabilities that extend the functionality of the ERP solution.

The UK-based company has been providing the European Sage market with embedded warehouse solutions for more than 25 years and has 400 Sage sites, in industries ranging from manufacturing and pharmaceutical to online retail and food and beverage processing.

"In the past, African businesses that required warehousing functionality and used Sage ERP X3 needed to take on the risk and complexity of integrating standalone warehouse management systems into the ERP suite," says Keith Fenner, senior vice-president of sales for Sage ERP Africa and head of Sage Middle East.

"Now, they'll benefit from the simplicity and seamlessness of being able to implement a fully-integrated warehouse management system along with the Sage ERP X3 suite."

Fenner explains that for 20 years, Datalinx has served as an international centre of excellence that delivers enterprise warehouse management systems for Sage ERP Africa.

"This level of experience and expertise in the Sage ERP X3 products made Datalinx the obvious partner for a warehouse management solution for Sage ERP Africa," notes Fenner.

Describing some of the challenges that South African organisations face with warehousing, Melvin Fletcher, sales director of Datalinx, says: "Challenges are much the same as the rest of the world - end-users in SA are demanding faster delivery of goods.

"What's more, individual order sizes are shrinking while overall shipment volumes are increasing because of the trend towards online ordering. Warehouses must evolve to meet these new challenges."

According to Fletcher, using technology to connect the warehouse to the business gives everyone in the warehouse and the rest of the enterprise a single version of the "truth".

"Now, everyone in the business can know what inventory the organisation holds, where it is, what the organisation needs to order or make to meet the demand, and what they have available for delivery. Wireless dynamic handheld devices and other advances mean that warehouses can communicate in real-time with the rest of the business," Fletcher elaborates.
