Unmatched innovation at Software AG Innovation Day

By Software AG
Johannesburg, 02 Jun 2015

Software AG is set to unveil its global first - the new Software AG Digital Business Platform - at its much anticipated Innovation Day, in Johannesburg, on 23 July.

Software AG's Digital Business Platform, showcased for the first time at CeBIT, is designed to enable organisations to master digitisation. Software AG Global CTO Wolfram Jost said in launching the new platform: "There is no packaged application vendor in the world that can foresee your future digital business needs. Our Digital Business Platform is like an aircraft carrier. We provide the core application services as a platform for building applications. There's basically no way to stop this type of aircraft carrier after it has gotten going."

Mohamed Cassoojee, Software AG South Africa's VP and country manager, explains the new Digital Business Platform is crucial to helping businesses adapt to a changing environment, where business in every vertical has to become a software development house. IT systems must support business growth and businesses must change their systems and strategies to survive.

"Until recently, key enterprise systems were inward-focused, looking at accounts, HR and ERP. Now, it is becoming key for enterprise systems to look outward too, through new apps, social media and vast amounts of other external data. In addition, traditional retailers, service providers and manufacturers are finding themselves becoming software development houses in their own right, as new apps must be delivered in days, possibly with a lifespan of only a few weeks," he says.

Time is critical, he notes. When customers expect instant responses and windows of opportunity last only seconds, businesses have to react in real-time to upsell, present offers, prevent fraud or ensure service excellence. "In addition, this rapid response must take into account vast amounts of data from a variety of sources, as well as personal customer information. Now, you might have millions of customers all demanding personalised service - the era of mass personalisation is arriving."

At Software AG's Innovation Day, to be staged at Urban Tree in Johannesburg, South African enterprises will discover the changing face of ICT, the challenges facing organisations in a new era of business and the revolution to be brought about by the new Digital Business Platform.

In line with the innovation theme, a streamlined event application is available from PlayStore or iStore.
