Apple Music will go live in 100 countries around the world at 5pm, Tuesday 30 June.

Apple Music will be available as part of an iOS update scheduled for tomorrow, which will happen at 5pm South African time.

Unveiled earlier this month, Apple Music is a single app that allows users to stream music from the extensive iTunes library, listen to a live, worldwide radio station, and "connect" with their favourite artists.

A Facebook event page was set up to inform users of the Apple Music launch: "Starting 30 June, experience all of Apple Music by updating your phone to the latest iOS (8.4)."

The update will be available from 8am Pacific Time. Apple said the music app will be available in more than 100 countries, but it has not released the countries on the list.

Users will have to subscribe to the music-streaming service for $9.99 a month, but all users will receive a free three-month trial period.

The radio station, Beats1, will be free to stream and broadcast 24/7.

Apple Music Connect will act as a social network for artists to talk to fans and share behind-the-scenes updates. Fans will be able to like and comment on what artists post.

Apple Music will be available on Apple TV and Android later this year.

To get the iOS update, users must go to settings on their iPhone, iPad, or Mac, select the general option and then the software update option.
