Mint partners with Afrika Tikkun to enhance child and youth development in Diepsloot

Johannesburg, 08 Jul 2015

With the start of Mandela Day preparations around the country, Mint has announced its partnership with Afrika Tikkun, an organisation dedicated to the upliftment of children and youth living in impoverished townships around South Africa.

Mint recognises the importance of involvement in the community we operate in and has chosen to adopt the Afrika Tikkun Wings of Life Centre of Excellence in Diepsloot, a mere 12km from Mint's headquarters.

Since June 2011, Mint has been successfully assisting a number of beneficiaries through hands-on initiatives, donations, bursaries, sponsorships, mentoring sessions and other actions under the DotUnity programme (Mint's Corporate Social Investment programme).

"We are excited about our partnership with Afrika Tikkun. Their philosophy of adopting a cradle-to-career model which invests in the development of disadvantaged children from early infancy through young adulthood resonates with our vision for DotUnity", says Lauren Clark, HR and Marketing Lead at Mint.

Mint will be kicking off our first hands-on initiative at the Wings of Life Centre on Friday, 10 July 2015 where employees will plant a vegetable garden, cook lunch for over 250 children and assist the children in the Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre with creative educational activities.

"Our DotUnity programme will help change the lives of the children as well as the community of Diepsloot. At Mint, we aim to ensure we live the values of our business as well as our goal of enriching the communities we operate in. It is especially important to us to work with children in an educational capacity, ensuring that the future employees and leaders of our country have access to better learning opportunities", concludes Clark.
