MWeb Business has reportedly suffered a catastrophic virtual machine (VM) outage, with customers left in the dark and potentially suffering complete data loss.
ITWeb has heard from MWeb Business customers, who requested anonymity, that a major data centre outage at MWeb Business on Friday caused widespread service interruption and prompted the hosting company to initiate a data centre-wide reinstall of hosted VMs in batches. Customers have reported the reinstated VMs were clean installs, with all existing customer data missing.
E-mail notifications from MWeb Business stated: "Dear MWEB Business customer, Your VM has been re-provisioned. Please log into MYACCOUNT in order to obtain your new virtual server login credentials and IP address."
