Specialist software and services company DVT has expanded its operations to South Africa's East Coast. The company has opened an office in Umhlanga Ridge with a team of developers working on software development and related projects for local and international clients.

DVT CEO Jaco van der Merwe says that, with more than 500 staff in South Africa and an established client base in Gauteng and Cape Town, the company is well positioned to assist clients in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape with all their custom software strategy, solution design, development and testing needs.

"Over the past 15 years we've established a track record of delivering more than 350 custom enterprise software solutions and over 1000 related professional services to many of South Africa's large and mid-size companies," says Van der Merwe.

"Being experts in Agile, software testing and leading development technology allows us to provide high quality software solutions that deliver business value to our clients faster," he says. "It is with great enthusiasm and the support of an exceptionally experienced and talented team of professionals that we're able to extend our physical footprint to the fast-growing and upwardly mobile East Coast region, and in doing so greatly enhance our national capacity."

Newly appointed DVT East Coast MD Karl Fischer says the East Coast office is a regional extension of the DVT group and will offer the full range of DVT's services including project management, business analysis, application development, mobile solutions, testing, BI, analytics and management consulting.

"Opening a local office allows us to provide in-region services and gives us the capacity to support growth industries such as financial services, established retail and manufacturing sectors that underpin the coastal region," says Fischer.

"Our aim is to grow our application development competency to become a centre of excellence for the Group, with a special focus on BI, Microsoft, Java, and Mobile skills that are in short supply."

Incoming DVT East Coast CTO Luke Venediger says the regional office will be expanded to offer Agile development services using modern software development technologies.

DVT currently has software development teams in Cape Town, Johannesburg and offshore, a training division (DVT Academy) in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and a software testing centre in Cape Town specialising in software test automation and testing of mobility solutions.

The company is planning to launch the DVT Academy in the East Coast region to provide Agile training, consulting and coaching services and support client migration to Agile.
