Accenture has unveiled five advanced analytics applications targeting the telecommunications industry.

Developed through the Accenture Analytics Applications Platform, Accenture says the new analytics applications are designed to help telecommunications companies make more effective pricing, staffing, maintenance and planning decisions.

According to Suren Govender, MD of Accenture Analytics, SA, analytics help telcos harness enterprise big data to make informed decisions in addressing a wide range of business problems and opportunities.

"Leveraging the Advanced Analytics Applications Platform allows rapid value delivery to attain business results," Govender says.

He points out the platform has been designed for business users and empowers them to use analytics outputs with customised views for each of the specific roles in the process. "Our analytics platform delivers value by allowing business users to also action the results within the same space without the need for using multiple tools to enable the process," he adds.

Govender notes Accenture has seen the massive impact that telcos have had on many parts of the economy, and has grabbed the opportunity to assist the telcos realise the benefits of analytics in a rapidly deployed manner.

"In the highly competitive business landscape, we appreciate the benefits that time-to-value can bring to our clients and their customers. We have developed each of the individual applications to be configured around the telco-specific business process that incorporates the logic and complexity for that telco industry challenge."

Accenture's new advanced analytics applications for the telecommunications industry include network predictive fault management which predicts network incidents before they occur, allowing for pre-emptive maintenance and improved service assurance. Users receive insights detailing network vulnerabilities and recommendations for proactive maintenance of the network infrastructure, Accenture explains.

It also includes revenue forecasting, which forecasts revenues in different areas such as customer base, activations, cancellations, and traffic to support revenue-generating business decisions.

The applications also have bundle pricing, which supports the development of effective pricing strategies for offering bundles, such as bundling a handset and a connection. Insights on customer preferences enable pricing decisions that can support customer demands, optimise inventory management, achieve business objectives, and increase profitability.

Call volume forecaster also improves the planning, staffing and management of contact centres by providing users with insights on forecasted call volumes and the right staffing resources needed to support the centre. Through an analytics-driven management process, providers can improve customer service levels and increase customer satisfaction, loyalty and brand perception, the firm says.

It also comes with IT governance for organisations to optimise and improve IT infrastructure efficiency, even when transitioning to virtualised environments.

Accenture currently has a total of 25 advanced analytics applications available for the telecommunications, retail, financial services, and utilities industries.
