Windows 10 downloads per device have been far better than Windows 8.

Almost a month after the global release of Microsoft's operating system, Windows 10, the software giant says more than 75 million devices are now running the new OS.

Launched on 29 July, Windows 10 is Microsoft's first OS in three years, and is designed to work across laptops, desktops and smartphones.

The new OS has won positive reviews, with Microsoft previously reporting 14 million installs in the first 24 hours of the launch.

According to Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice-president of marketing for Windows and devices, Windows 10 is running in 192 countries. "More than 75 million devices are running Windows 10 and growing every day."

Mehdi adds: "More than 90 000 unique PC or tablet models have upgraded to Windows 10."

Windows store for Windows 10 has seen six times more app downloads per device than Windows 8, he says.
