Arrow Altech Distribution (AAD), Africa's leading distributor of electronic components, products and solutions, has announced the appointment of Peter Griffiths as its new Managing Director, following the retirement of long-time incumbent Andre du Preez, who will step down at the end of August 2015.
Griffiths brings considerable experience to the role, having served the Altron Group for the past 14 years, most recently as the General Manager of Altech GDL, a principal subsidiary of Altech Multimedia.
Du Preez has been involved with AAD since it was founded in 1998, and was actively involved in the merger and integration of the four Altech distribution companies at the time, namely Allied Electronic Components, Electronic Building Elements, Fairmont and Pace Electronic Components.
Over the course of his tenure, Du Preez has been instrumental in ensuring the organisation was one of the most consistently successful operations within the group.
Commenting on the appointment of Griffiths as his successor, Du Preez said that Griffiths had proven himself to be an excellent leader with a strong track record.
"Peter knows the Altron Group well having joined the organisation in 2001. He has a wealth of experience and is known for delivering high quality service to his customers. Peter transformed Altech GDL from being a loss-making entity into a leading profit centre for Altech UEC and I have no doubt that under his leadership, AAD will continue to exceed customers' expectations in terms of knowledge, expertise and quality of service delivery."
According to Griffiths, the appointment represented a milestone in his career and he was looking forward to continuing the legacy of excellence instilled by Du Preez.
"Andre has set a fine example and is one of the most accomplished leaders in the Altron Group. In addition, AAD is a great company with great people and I am confident that together with my leadership team, we can ensure AAD remains Africa's largest electronic components distributor and that we keep on delivering value to our stakeholders," Griffiths said.
