Dimension Data and EMC have formed the catalyst alliance, as a strategic four-year market development initiative, says Claude Schuck, channel manager, EMC Southern Africa.

Dimension Data and EMC have formed a partnership which they dub the "catalyst alliance", a market development initiative designed to speed up the adoption of hybrid cloud as a platform for transformation for the mid-size enterprise.

Through the catalyst alliance, both organisations will make investments to develop and jointly market and sell solutions that allow their clients to realise value from business strategies based on hybrid cloud and enable them to adopt new technology while managing risk.

Through the new initiative, Dimension Data and EMC plan to deliver solutions to organisations that span private cloud on or off premises and public and hybrid cloud including advanced managed services for storage.

Catalyst alliance solutions feature consumption-based pricing models on storage, cloud and managed services. To ensure success of the alliance, a dedicated team of sales, technical and marketing specialists from Dimension Data and EMC will align client workloads and applications to the best solutions.

"Dimension Data is truly a global partner for EMC and has executed deals across our federated portfolio in over 55 countries for the past 10 years," says Claude Schuck, channel manager, EMC Southern Africa.

"Leveraging their expertise with EMC, we are able to offer our best of breed solutions to our customers on a consumption model basis and ensure we block our competition and increase our market share," he adds.

According to Schuck, Dimension Data and EMC have formed the catalyst alliance, as a strategic four-year market development initiative aimed at simplifying the transition to cloud computing for mid-sized and medium enterprise organisations.

He adds that the companies will invest to jointly define, market, and sell solutions that facilitate the move to and ongoing management of hybrid IT. "Together, we can provide clients with comprehensive offerings that span on-premises, off-premises, private, public and hybrid cloud with managed services via next-generation data centre and IT-as-a-service."

Schuck explains that Dimension Data can provide EMC customers with utility, or consumption-based, pricing to help reduce customer's capex spend for both public and private cloud. "They also offer a full set of managed services to help deliver a full hybrid cloud solution to our customers. Dimension Data is both a solution provider and cloud service provider partner, offering customers an end-to-end solution for both on-premises and off-premises environments, all powered by EMC technology."

Steve Nola, Dimension Data's Group executive for IT-as-a-Service, says: "The catalyst alliance will help clients realise the benefits of hybrid cloud that will be used to serve core business applications anywhere in the world.

"We like EMC's commitment to disruptive innovation to help clients navigate IT transformation. By combining EMC's technology leadership with Dimension Data's extensive services portfolio and global reach, clients are able to accelerate their growth, creating value for their customers and financial returns for their shareholders."
