The ICT Fair presents an opportunity for ICT businesses from Johannesburg and around Gauteng.

The City of Johannesburg's Department of Economic Development, in partnership with the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda), is hosting the ICT Business Fair on 29 September.

The ICT Fair, to be held at the Metro Centre, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, seeks to support entrepreneurs and aims to examine the opportunities and challenges within the sector.

According to the event organisers, the ICT Fair presents a chance for ICT businesses from Gauteng to showcase and demonstrate their market-ready products and services for potential market opportunities.

The morning will feature a range of speeches and panel discussions. Attendees will be allocated time to network with exhibitors.

Keynote speakers at the event include the minister of small business, Lindiwe Zulu; City of Johannesburg mayor, Parks Tau; member of mayoral committee for economic development, Ruby Mathang; executive director for economic development, Ravi Naidoo; and acting CEO of Seda, Lusapho Njenge.

The key discussion items at the event include showcasing value-added/innovative goods and services; disseminating information about the ICT sector; job creation; and supplier development programmes as means to business retention and expansion.

The ICT Fair will also highlight supplier development as a tool to SME and BEE incubator development and empowerment.

SA is expected to grow in stature and influence on the continent and this influence brings with it economic opportunities, say the event organisers.

The event is targeting to host 300 entrepreneurs that are operating in the ICT sector, and in particular hopes to attract youth, women and people with disabilities.

The organisers are still looking for exhibitors at the event. Interested parties can forward their profiles to Reginaldp@joburg.org.za, elliotd@joburg.org.za, simphiwemal@joburg.org.za, lodekan@joburg.org.za, nickyn@joburg.org.za and mphoram@joburg.org.za.
